Julio Marenco
Mr. Julio Marenco is a proud lifelong Hudson County resident, a United States Navy Veteran, elected official, public servant and educator who currently serves as an Associate Board Member of the New Jersey State Parole Board as well as a Commissioner of Revenue and Finance for the Township of North Bergen, New Jersey.
Mr. Marenco began his career in public service at an early age. He served on the USS Whale Submarine as the Torpedo/Mission division leader and was honored with the Navy Achievement Medal upon his honorable discharge. Marenco went on to graduate with his Bachelors from Montclair State University, his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University and a Masters in Administrative Sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In 2015, Marenco was elected Commissioner of the Township of North Bergen, New Jersey. After his election, he was selected by the township's 5 member board of Commissioners to oversee the Revenue and Finance Department. Under his leadership, the department has streamlined operations, strengthened budgeting controls and ensured stable taxes. Marenco worked with other township leaders to manage the municipal budgeting process, apply for aid and grant funding and consciously spend taxpayers' money wisely.
In 2010, Marenco was nominated by then Governor Jon Corzine and subsequently confirmed by the New Jersey State Senate. In this capacity, he worked with fellow board members to conduct more than 20,000 hearings annually. In 2017, he was renominated by Governor Chris Christie and confirmed again.
Mr. Marenco has served in various New Jersey state government roles throughout his career, including additional positions under New Jersey Governors; McGreevy, Codey and Corzine. In 2005, Marenco was appointed by Governor Richard Codey to serve on the New Jersey Equal Opportunity Fund (NJEOF), the board which secures funding for underrepresented and lower-income students providing them an opportunity to attend college. Subsequently, in 2009, Governor Jon Corzine appointed Marenco to the State Higher Education Assistance Authority (HESSA), the board which manages state funding and financial aide for all New Jersey college students. In addition, Marenco served as a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Director at Fairleigh Dickinson University teaching law, leadership, and humanities.
